The Design Center, a 15,500 SF newly constructed building at the Lisle Headquarter Campus, is where designers and engineers focus on the exterior body and interior portions of Navistar’s vehicles. The vehicle exterior and interior design processes start with conceptual work that includes sketches, renderings, and/or CAD materials. As the design develops, it may follow several paths: 3D computer imaging, use of a high-resolution display wall, full-scale clay modeling, hand and machine sculpting of the clay, including painting and review under natural daylight conditions. Full-scale models of vehicle interiors may also be produced.
