Eager to expand their aviation services, Gary Jet Center engaged Partners by Design to help design a new Corporate Flight Center as part of GJC’s Fixed Base Operation (FBO) at the Gary/Chicago International Airport (KGYY). The terminal features a 45-seat lobby and offers expansive views of the newly renovated 8,859-foot runway through specially tempered glass that reduces solar heat gain. Partners by Design was asked to transform the space into a first-class experience for both passengers and crew members. To achieve this an espresso bar, conference space, three crew lounges as well as sleep rooms and laundry facilities were designed to be available to passengers and crew. The new Flight Center is located on their west campus which includes two 40,000-square-foot hangars and over 5 acres of ramp to accommodate even the largest aircraft.
