Engineering News-Record awarded Partners by Design with the Award of Merit in its Midwest region for the interior design of Mead Johnson Nutrition.

Engineering News-Record selected the Mead Johnson Nutrition as one of its Award of Merit winners in its Midwest region. Designed in collaboration with Arktura, it won in the interior design/tenant improvement category.

The honor was announced on Wednesday when ENR, one of the construction industry’s top publications, released the firms selected by an industry panel of judges in each of its 19 award categories. See more about this project here.

🌟 This #GivingTuesday, join us in supporting the Greater Chicago Food Depository’s mission to end hunger in our community. Since 1979, they’ve been fighting hunger with a network of 800 local pantries, shelters, and programs.

Thanks to generous donors, PBD and our partners were able to help GCFD complete the Nourish Project—completed in 2024—and expand the Food Depository’s capacity to provide over 30,000 nutritious meals daily, including culturally appropriate meals for asylum seekers and medically tailored meals for those in need. The new facility also supports local economies by partnering with minority-owned restaurants and generating jobs in underserved communities.

The Greater Chicago Food Depository, established i

The Greater Chicago Food Depository, established in 1979, works to end hunger in the community by supporting a network of 800 local pantries, shelters, and programs. In 2019, guided by the PBD team it completed Phase I of the Nourish Project, enhancing cold storage, upgrading its warehouse, and creating new volunteer spaces. PBD and GCFD finished Phase II in 2024, further expanding the facility’s capacity to produce nutritious meals, while also creating economic opportunities in underserved communities. The expansion allowed the Food Depository to deliver over 20,000 culturally appropriate meals daily to asylum seekers in 2023, in partnership with 17 minority-owned restaurants.

The 38,000-square-foot expansion includes Chicago’s Community Kitchens, which produces up to 10,000 meals daily for vulnerable populations. Designed by Partners by Design, the new facility focuses on increasing meal production and improving food processing. It now prepares over 30,000 meals a day, catering to cultural preferences and special dietary needs. The redesigned space also features better truck parking, a welcoming lobby with a statement light fixture by K2, and sustainable landscaping with a hydroponic garden. The facility earned a LEED Silver rating for its environmentally conscious design.

The environmental branding by Spark celebrates the organization’s mission and community impact. A founder wall honors the six original founders, while a donor wall with 800,000 dots represents individual contributors. The new exterior will feature rotating murals by local artists, further strengthening community ties.

Overall, the Food Depository’s redesign reflects its commitment to fighting hunger and supporting Chicago’s diverse communities.

Our @convene project at 233 S. Wacker, nestled in Chicago’s iconic Willis Tower offers high-end meeting and event spaces, featuring a column-free general session area and floor-to-ceiling windows that provide breathtaking views of the city. With capacity for over 600 seated guests, this expansive space includes numerous breakout areas and private outdoor terraces, all designed to foster creativity and collaboration in the heart of the Loop. Rich gold, reds and neutrals combined with natural finish textures, pops of color, and geometric art speak to the rich architectural history of Chicago and create high design moments in intimate and public spaces.

We're pleased to announce @prioritysports new office in the historic Reid Murdoch Building. PBD thoughtfully designed this 11,000 sq ft space to embody the company's dynamic energy and collaborative team spirit. Key features include metallic epoxy flooring inspired by basketball courts, a customizable peg wall for sports memorabilia, and a ticker board to keep employees engaged with the latest games. This design not only enhances functionality but also fosters a vibrant and inspiring work environment.
